The UVM Chapter plans to compete in the 2015 AISC Steel Bridge Competition. The competition will be held in April at Merrimack College. Currently students are in the process of designing the bridge and using SAP to analyze the bridge. Once a final design is agreed upon they will start to build it. This year the chapter worked with the dean and the College of Engineering to open up ME 083 to Civil engineers as well. This is a course at UVM that introduces students to finite element analysis, solid modeling, and stress-strain analysis with post-processing techniques. Essentially this will allow students to work in the shop welding the bridge. The students are looking forward to another exceptional year and competition.
