University of Vermont Internships

There is some exciting news from the University of Vermont College of Engineering and Mathematical Sciences (CEMS). They received a $2.7M three-year Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training (TAACCCT) Grant from the federal Department of Labor. The TAACCCT grant focuses on non-traditional student training and certificate programs with an internship component. In addition to the internship work in the grant, CEMS is also hiring a full time internship coordinator to work with all 1,200 CEMS students. The intent is for the grant and the new coordinator position to work seamlessly together to enhance the internship experiences for all of the Engineering, Computer Science and Mathematics students in the College.

The Greater Burlington Industrial Corp (GBIC) is currently partnering with the program for outreach to industry partners to better assess the needs of employers for the internship program. They are setting up a series of programs throughout the state to elicit input from industry.

Shalini Suryanarayana is the TAACCCT Program Director and starting in January, Alicia Ellis will be the new CEMS Internship Coordinator. For more information or to comment on the internship if you are unable to make the meeting, feel free to e-mail Shalini at .
